A map of Africa highlighting Mauritania

Glad you could drop in and share your time with us. It is your generosity that makes the world spin!

Through this website, we join our voices and actions with those who chose to change the world for the better and who generously give of their time and their energy. We affirmatively support all those who are engaged in service to others.

A Global Future is an organization devoted to promoting democracy and enhancing the economy. We do this by funneling available volunteers and resources to develop agricultural programs and entrepreneurial efforts for the benefit of those in developing nations.

Today, we are focused on Mauritania.

Mauritania is variously considered North or West Africa. In fact, it lies on Africa’s west coast with Mali to the east, Morocco (and Western Sahara) to the north and Senegal to the south. Algeria has a common border touching on the sparsely inhabited Sahara in the northeast. If you divide the African continent in half (horizontally), Mauritania would lie to the north of the meridian. Though its land mass is large (about three times the size of New Mexico), Mauritania’s population is only a little over three million people at last count.

Until August 6, 2008, Mauritania was under the democratic leadership of Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi when he was overthrown by his military. Even so, he remains the Constitutional President who was inaugurated on April 19, 2007 after a landmark election that was certified as free and fair by the international community. He immediately began to lead the country through its democratic transition.

Since we live in a world where information abounds, we can have an idea on the Central California coast which can be delivered in seconds around the world to Qatar. How amazing is that? That means that instead of 3 million people thinking about a problem, there are potentially billions people thinking about an idea. The realm of possible solutions grows exponentially every second.

And so this website was born.

Please browse through our site where you can view pictures and get "up to speed" on our current projects.

If you have ideas, we have an ear! Our motto is - A Global Future through Local Solutions.

Welcome.
